Authentic Kimono Rental
Authentic Kimono Rental
Authentic and Traditional Style
This is the standard set we offer at Ume Sakura, and it is the most traditional and authentic selection. Out of hundreds of variations, we will assist you in choosing the most appropriate and seasonal kimono. With obi, obijime, obiage, and many more accessories, Ume Sakura offers a personalized kimono experience. The key difference compared to other kimono styles is the type of obi (sash) and the method of tying it. For this authentic style, we use Fukuro or Nagoya obi that are more traditional and common (but rare to see in more reasonable rental kimonos). To tie this particular obi, we use the "Taiko Musubi" knot. Taiko musubi resembles a box and has a flat but quite elegant shape in the back. Although it looks simple, making a proper Taiko knot requires skill and experience.
Highest Quality
We offer a wide selection of high quality kimonos, from casual to traditional. They can be worn for many different occasions, and will surely provide an authentic Kyoto experience.
By Appointment Only
All of our kimono rentals are by appointment only. To ensure a quality, personal, and special experience, we only offer service for one group at a time.
Liscensed Staff
We proudly staff certified kitsuke trained assistants to help you dress. Our staff will help you maintain a proper fit while staying comfortable throughout your day's travels.
Hair Styling
Hair styling is included in our kimono rental plans. We do not offer extreme, elaborate hairstyles, but instead we focus on reflecting the simplicity and elegance of our kimono. And If you have short hair, it's better not to overdo it.
